Abstract
Accurate estimation of the soil thickness distribution in steepland drainage basins is essential for understanding ecosystem and subsurface response to infiltration. One important aspect of this characterization is assessing the heavy and antecedent rainfall conditions that lead to shallow landsliding. ...

Abstract
We argue that some powerful CEOs induce boards to shift the weight on performance measures toward the better performing measures, thereby rigging incentive pay. A simple model formalizes this intuition and gives an explicit structural form on the rigged incentive portion of CEO wage function. ...

Design Methodology for Determining the Load Resistance of Heat-Treated Window Glass

Accession Number 129003
Abstract
ASTM E 1300-07 employs only two glass type factors to adjust the load resistance of annealed glass for heat treatment, one factor for heat-strengthened glass and one factor for tempered glass. The use of only two factors provides a simplistic approach that fails to utilize the full capacity of heat-treated glass. ASTM E 1300-07 differentiates heat-strengthened from fully tempered glass by the magnitude of the residual compressive surface stress resulting from the heat treating process. ...

Abstract
This paper extends Culmann’s vertical-cut analysis to unsaturated soils. To test the extended theory, unsaturated sand was compacted to a uniform porosity and moisture content in a laboratory apparatus. A sliding door that extended the height of the free face of the slope was lowered until the vertical cut failed. Digital images of the slope cross section and upper surface were acquired concurrently. ...
