Abstract
To accommodate large-scale integration of renewable generation, look-ahead power dispatch, which is essentially a type of dynamic economic dispatch (DED), is widely used in power system operation. DED can be reduced to a two-stage dual problem via Lagrangian relaxation. The major challenge to solving this dual problem robustly and efficiently is the multiplier updating strategy. ...

Abstract
This paper studies the load frequency control (LFC) for power systems with communication delays via an event-triggered control method to reduce the amount of communications required. The effect of the load disturbances on the augmented output is defined as a robust performance index of the augmented LFC scheme. By utilizing a time-delayed system design approach, a new model of the LFC scheme with delays is formulated, where the communication delays and event-triggered control are integrated for the LFC scheme. Based on the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional method, the criteria for the event-triggered stability analysis and control synthesis of the LFC scheme are derived. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulation studies. ...

Abstract
This paper addresses the issue of synchronization of switched delayed neural networks with communication delays via event-triggered control. For synchronizing coupled switched neural networks, we propose a novel event-triggered control law which could greatly reduce the number of control updates for synchronization tasks of coupled switched neural networks involving embedded microprocessors with limited on-board resources. The control signals are driven by properly defined events, which depend on the measurement errors and current-sampled states. By using a delay system method, a novel model of synchronization error system with delays is proposed with the communication delays and event-triggered control in the unified framework for coupled switched neural networks. ...

Abstract
Line flow calculation plays a critically important role to guarantee the stable operation of power system in economic dispatch (ED) problems with line constraints. This paper presents a line flow granular computing approach for power flow calculation to assist the investigation on ED with line constraints, where the hierarchy method is adopted to divide the power network into multiple layers to reduce computational complexity. ...

This paper studies physical consequences of unobservable false data injection (FDI) attacks designed only with information inside a subnetwork of the power system. The goal of this attack is to overload a chosen target line without being detected via measurements. To overcome the limited information, a multiple linear regression model is developed to learn the relationship between the external network and the attack subnetwork from historical data. ...

Abstract
Semantic attributes have been increasingly used the past few years for multimedia event detection (MED) with promising results. The motivation is that multimedia events generally consist of lower level components such as objects, scenes, and actions. By characterizing multimedia event videos with semantic attributes, one could exploit more informative cues for improved detection results. Much existing work obtains semantic attributes from images, which may be suboptimal for video analysis since these image-inferred attributes do not carry dynamic information that is essential for videos. ...

Abstract
Large-scale blackouts and extreme weather events in recent decades raise the concern for improving the resilience of electric power infrastructures. Distribution service restoration (DSR), a fundamental application in outage management systems, provides restoration solutions for system operators when power outages happen. As distribution generators (DGs) and remotely controllable devices are increasingly installed in distribution systems, an advanced DSR framework is needed to perform optimally coordinated restoration that can achieve maximal restoration performance. ...

Distribution service restoration (DSR) is critical for improving the resilience and reliability of modern distribution systems by strategically and sequentially energizing the system components and customer loads. Restoring electricity service to affected customers also requires multiple crews with different skill sets to perform multiple tasks that are procedurally interdependent with safety guaranteed. However, in existing DSR practices, switch operations and crew dispatch are scheduled separately, and their interdependence is not fully considered. ...

Abstract
This paper presents new theoretical results on the global synchronization of coupled fractional-order recurrent neural networks. Under the assumptions that the coupled fractional-order recurrent neural networks are sequentially connected in form of a single spanning tree or multiple spanning trees, two sets of sufficient conditions are derived for ascertaining the global synchronization by using the properties of Mittag-Leffler function and stochastic matrices. Compared with existing works, the results herein are applicable for fractional-order systems, which could be viewed as an extension of integer-order ones. Two numerical examples are presented to illustrate the effectiveness and characteristics of the theoretical results. ...

Abstract
In this brief, we investigate a class of second-order memristive neural networks (SMNNs) with mixed time-varying delays. Based on nonsmooth analysis, the Lyapunov stability theory, and adaptive control theory, several new results ensuring global stabilization of the SMNNs are obtained. In addition, compared with the reduced-order method used in the existing research studies, we consider the global stabilization directly from the SMNNs themselves without the reduced-order method. Finally, we give some numerical simulations to show the effectiveness of the results. ...
