Abstract
The master curve of an asphalt binder provides a relationship between the binder stiffness and reduced frequency over a range of temperatures and frequencies. Accordingly, the master curve makes it possible to predict viscoelastic properties over a wide frequency range and also to predict viscoelastic properties at any temperature. To construct a master curve, the stiffness of an asphalt binder at multiple temperatures and frequencies is measured. The data are then fitted into a viscoelastic model applied to asphalt binders. This paper develops a new framework for modeling design earthquake loads for inelastic structures. Limited information on strong ground motions is assumed to be available only at the given site. The design earthquake acceleration is expressed as a Fourier series, with unknown amplitude and phase angle, modulated by an envelope function. Assessment of multiattribute utility functions is significantly simplified if it is possible to decompose the function into more manageable pieces. Abstract
Fenugreek is one of several herbal medicines whose seeds and leaves are used either as food or as an ingredient in folk medicine. In the existing literature, there is evidence regarding the effects of fenugreek on ethylene glycol induced kidney stone formation of rats. Regarding the other drugs, such as Cystone, the seeds of Trigonella foenum-graecum (fenugreek) are reported to have been used as anti-urolithiatic in traditional medicine. Thus, the present study was undertaken to investigate the effect of fenugreek on the prevention of kidney stone formation. Twenty male albino rats were divided into 4 groups: Normal, Ethylene Glycol (EG), Cystone and Fenugreek. The duration of the experiment was 28 days. The first stage is a single-switch high step-up dc-dc converter with bipolar outputs, and the second stage is a conventional half-bridge dc-ac grid-connected inverter. In this paper, we consider a massive grant-free non-orthogonal multiple access (GF-NOMA) scheme, where devices have strict latency requirements and no retransmission opportunities are available. Each device chooses a pilot sequence from a predetermined set as its signature and transmits its selected pilot and data simultaneously. A collision occurs when two or more devices choose the same pilot sequence. Existing GF-NOMA schemes assume that a collision of at least one pair of users entails a collision for all simultaneously transmitting users, which is sub-optimal in terms of individual outage and system throughput. ...
