On Outage Probability and Diversity-Multiplexing Tradeoff in MIMO Relay Channels

Physical Description: p 1731-1741
Subject Area: Engineering
Subject Terms:  Telecommunication
Accession Number 133619
Abstract
Fading MIMO relay channels are studied analytically, when the source and destination are equipped with multiple antennas and the relays have a single one. Compact closed-form expressions are obtained for the outage probability under i.i.d. and correlated Rayleigh-fading links. Low-outage approximations are derived, which reveal a number of insights, including the impact of correlation, of the number of antennas, of relay noise and of relaying protocol. The effect of correlation is shown to be negligible, unless the channel becomes almost fully correlated. ...

Abstract
An information-theoretic analysis of a multi-keyhole channel, which includes a number of statistically independent keyholes with possibly different correlation matrices, is given. When the number of keyholes or/and the number of Tx/Rx antennas is large, there is an equivalent Rayleigh-fading channel such that the outage capacities of both channels are asymptotically equal. In the case of a large number of antennas ...

Abstract
A simple epidemiological model is used as a framework to explore the potential efficacy of measures to control antibiotic resistance in community-based self-limiting human infections. The analysis of the properties of this model predict that resistance can be maintained at manageable levels if: first, the rates at which specific antibiotics are used declines with the frequency of resistance to these drugs; second, resistance rarely emerges ...

Research into the mechanisms regulating bacterial cell size has its origins in a single paper published over 50 years ago. Abstract
Social network scholarship emphasizes that receiving resources from others in a network can benefit an individual’s job performance. Yet this paradigm rarely considers the effects on the provider of assistance. Outside the networks literature, scholars have been increasingly attentive to factors that affect motivations to provide help (i.e., prosocial motivation). However, the performance effects associated with providing help have been mixed. We concentrate specifically upon assistance that has the potential to enhance the providers’ learning and knowledge base and, hence, their performance. ...

Complementing and extending prior studies on the value of existing work relationships, this study examines whether we can predict the value of brand-new ties before people ever meet.
