Abstract |
The importance of both the physiologic and psychosocial aspect of caring for the patient with a spinal cord injury are stressed throughout this program. The guidelines presented reflect principles for planning care during the initial seven to ten days after spinal cord injury. After causes of injuries are examined, the consequences of these injuries at specific spinal cord levels are discussed in detail. Methods of treatment and determining baseline assessment of the injured patient are clinically filmed. Patient care management directed toward the maintenance of normal body functions is reviewed. The program concludes with nursing interventions that assist the patient's psychological adjustment to the spinal cord injury.... |
